Join us on Saturday August 13th as we celebrate Rockford Day by showing the action-packed adventure film FIRST MAN, about the Apollo 11 moon landing. Rockford manufacturing has a rich history of contributions to space travel, so we honor them with this show.
The gate will open at 6pm, space themed activities for families starts at 7pm, and the movie will begin at dusk. Sarah Treadwell, local Astrobiologist, Solar System Ambassador for NASA/Jet Propulsion Laboratory and crew journalist for the Mars Desert Research Station will bring her telescope, affectionately called The Canon, along to view the moon after the movie.
A freewill donation will be requested at the gate to further the mission of Miracle Mile Rockford for programs and events supporting local, small businesses in our business district.
This event is made possible by the Forward for Fun grant we received from the following sponsors: Hard Rock Rockford, Northwest IL Building Trades, City of Rockford, RACVB, Fehr Graham, RMTD, Community Foundation of Northern Illinois, Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 23, IBEW Local 364, Project First Rate and FirstStaffing.
